Wieliczka Salt Mine from Kraków: your options

You can reach the Wieliczka Salt Mine from Kraków in three ways. The train SKA1 runs from Kraków Główny to Wieliczka Rynek-Kopalnia in about 25 minutes. Bus 304 leaves from Dworzec Główny Zachód. Or you book a guided tour from Kraków, which the cards below list with current prices, meeting points and what is included.

The train time is not the time from your hotel. Add the walk to the station, the wait and the walk from Wieliczka Rynek-Kopalnia to the shaft. The visit itself then takes 2–3 hours, plus roughly another hour if you add the underground museum exhibition. Fares on this page are in Polish złoty (PLN) as listed for 2026.

By train from Kraków to the salt mine

The simplest way to travel on your own.

The line

The train SKA1 is run by Koleje Małopolskie. Take it from Kraków Główny to Wieliczka Rynek-Kopalnia. The trip takes about 25 minutes. From the station it is a short walk to the mine.

Fares

A normal single fare is PLN 7.50. The integrated ticket for 70 minutes costs PLN 10 (PLN 5 reduced). It covers the Kraków rail stations and Wieliczka, but not Kraków Airport.

Timetable

The rail timetable changes by period. Departure minutes differ, so check the current timetable for your date before you go.

By bus 304 from Kraków

An alternative if the train does not suit your plans.

Where to board and get off

Bus 304 starts at Dworzec Główny Zachód. Get off at Wieliczka Kopalnia Soli for the Daniłowicz shaft, where the Tourist Route starts. Get off at Wieliczka Rynek for the Regis shaft, where the Miners' Route starts.

Fares

The bus uses the agglomeration tariff for zones I, II and III: PLN 6 for 30 minutes or a single ride (PLN 3 reduced), PLN 8 for 60 minutes (PLN 4) and PLN 9 for 90 minutes (PLN 4.50). The reduced fare needs a matching entitlement.

Works at the terminus

The Wieliczka Kampus terminus has been under reconstruction since 17 August 2026, and line 304 is affected. Do not count on an unchanged final stop. Check the current stop before you board.

Add a Kraków afternoon

The ride back is short, so the Old Town, Wawel and Kazimierz fit into the same day. Allow for the visit to run longer than the usual 2–3 hours.

Things to do in Kraków →

Auschwitz-Birkenau is a separate trip

It is a memorial and a cemetery, with its own reservation and a guide. It is not a stop on the way. If you are thinking about both on one day, read how much that asks of you first.
